February Park Edit

This past long weekend (President’s Day) held some of the best conditions we’ve had all year. Everyday was the perfect mix of cool temps and a warm sun. The most notable element of the weekend was the complete lack of wind which enabled us to session the big jumps in Main Park. Check out this edit which was filmed at June Mountain and Mammoth all weekend and features the skiing abilities of Matt Cook, Chris Farro, Ben Gunton, and on the board – Cody Romness. This video was shot entirely on the GoPro HD camera.

Also we’d like to wish a speedy recovery to both David Heimann and Melanie Blair!

[..YouTube..] Abe man, this is your best one yet! I like the subtle vignette you laid on there. You guys are getting super good at framing action shots with that pole mount. I don’t think people who watch these on YouTube understand how hard it is to do that! Are you stabilizing any of the footage with Motion?

  7. Posted February 18, 2010 at 12:18 am | Permalink

[..YouTube..] thanks kev – and yeah it’s fun to see all the shots come out how you want them to. Half of those were actually shot with a 3D mount with 2 cams – so expect that edit soon! Haven’t stabilized any shot with motion or AE – the weight of the 2 cams acted as a good stabilizer

[..YouTube..] Yeah we won the national freestyle title last year. Want to go this year but having a hard time getting funding from the school – we don’t really exist to them (football, waterpolo, etc overshadow us)

[..YouTube..] honestly. best edit I have ever seen. Keep it up.

I just purchased this camera and I was wondering what you do to get the colors so bright and tinted corners.

  30. Posted February 18, 2010 at 7:20 pm | Permalink

[..YouTube..] I edit with final cut. In final cut I use the 3-color corrector to do some colorizations and the tinted edges is just a simple vignette filter

    awesome!

  36. Posted February 18, 2010 at 9:36 pm | Permalink

[..YouTube..] Thanks, I agree about the yellow – there were some shots where the sun makes the snow pretty darn yellow and messing with the highlight color to blue just cooled the video too much

[..YouTube..] are there any other schools that have a team, i think maybe U of O does?
