At the end of last year, GoPro came to us with a bit of news. First off, they said our videos were exactly the type of thing they wanted to show off what anyone can do with their little cameras; and second, that they were coming out with epic new HD cameras at the end of 2009 that would blow us away.
They asked the USC Ski & Snowboard team to aid them in creating an HD Promo video of skiing that they could use at trade shows, in press-releases etc. Where can we ski during the summer? Oregon! We met up at Timberline in July, grabbed some lift tickets courtesy of GoPro and went to town with the new cameras.
We had X-Games pipe skier Tucker Perkins to help us out with some tricks, along with Chris Farro, who lives a quick skip away from the mountain during the summer. I had just returned from a week trip up in Whistler at Camp of Champions for 4frnt Team week and had unfortunately suffered a pretty severe heel injury up there. I could ski down the hill but there were to be no epic jump follows. Either way, in a few short hours we got these shots and were absolutely blown away by the quality.
Fast forward to now and GoPro is filling orders and shipping these things like mad – demand is on an insane level. We’re stoked to be working with GoPro and appreciate all that they’ve done with us so far!
